4×2x2(300609)

4×2x2(300609), originally uploaded by iwynx.

The update on taken on tuesday 30th June 2009.

Added 100 pieces of cardinal tetras and 80 odd pieces of mosquitoes rasboras…

Why 80 odd pieces ? Cos they came in 100 pieces, the remaining pieces went into my nano tank.

Tank glass surface is clearing up with the addition of seachem phosphate. Remember the episode with the green dust algae.

The cure for Green Dust Algae (Akistrodesmus) infestations

Posted by diligo on June 17, 2009

Well, after months of battling cloudiness in my planted tank…I reckon this could be the answer…well, the solution is..’believe it or not’..leave the tank alone for 10 to 20 days.

Tom Barr actually commented on this.

Then, another guy also commented on his success following Tom’s method.

http://www.aquatic-eden.com/2008/12/aquascaping-answers-kelvin-ratings-and.html

Initially, I thought it was the ADA sand that caused the cloudiness, I tried stuff like seachem purigen, bamboo charcoal, to a certain extent my tank clear up significantly but there’s always algae haze growing on the glass of the tank and strangely, the tank water is never clear seems like there’s a lot of white particles, especially after hours of photosynthesis.

Well, will be measuring nitrates, phosphates levels in the tank tonight and see what happens 20 days time. Wish me luck.

Narrow Leaf Java Fern

The narrow leaf java fern. Didn’t know that they can look so good :D

The secret is apparently cool water 23 to 25 degree plus sufficient CO2 fertilization.

lamprologus brevis fry, originally uploaded by iwynx.

it is been 6 weeks since discovering fries of the lamprologus brevis pair. Sadly, we have lost the female shellie due to malawi bloat or some sort. Anyhow, this is how one of the fries look like 6 weeks after we first discovered them.

This is how the tank is doing…Not exactly super clear as I like it to be…but it will still take some time. I am going to add a barclaya Longifolia into the mix to spice things up a little…wonder if I am to get 20 pieces of congo tetra to make myself happier…I am not sure…

some pics….

Two weeks ago…

That’s how bad it look like five days after planting..

Pictures from day 1 to 4 not available..since you can’t see nothing..but milk like water…
