Yup, it been a week since the knee operation..learnt alot about my ailing left knee and what was done to recover my knee back to the original state… I guess there will not be an original state given that I must have torn my meniscus during my reuda class…I can’t exactly recall the command that was called out that day..All I could recall was that I stepped onto my spanish classmate’s ankle and got my knee twisted real bad..Anyhow, do read up more about the meniscus tear that I got –> http://www.arthroscopy.com/sp05005.htm This sounds frightening… Now, there is one big issue about ‘complete’ meniscectomy that you must understand – complete meniscectomy is a one-way ticket to arthritis! Been doing my regular stretching, leg lifts to strengthen the quadriceps, hamstrings…all in the name of getting me off crutches in another 12 days time…and in the good cause of getting my knee stronger so that I can let the new ACL graft fuse nicely into my tibia and femur via those bioresorbable screws..
Here’s one
I am kinda worried that I will not longer be able to run like I did before…but the doc kinda assured me that I still have about 60 to 70% of my meniscus intact…and that my reconstructed ACL will be able to take the stress load better…
anyhow, one week on….I am in less pain than the 1st day..been off painkillers for 5 days now…so that’s a good sight…knee bending…ermh..still cannot bend it past 90…the physio orders..to 90 next week, okay? Guess I gotta be patient and keep doing my stretches, icing…
Okay, time for my afternoon physio…and icing session…all is well..if you have any DVD documentary..loan me..I need some entertainment in my state…lol
