I don’t get it?

Posted by diligo on September 28, 2007

Yesterday, at the library…I bump into a PRC woman…nothing strange right since given the abundance of them in singapore….in all walks of life…anyhow, here’s my cheesy encounter with this PRC and I am sure many will attest they have similar experience…

PRC Lady: 先生。。。这机器我应该 如何用?

我-unspoken: (wah lau eh! Don’t even understand english, what the F she’s doing in Singapore?)

我:这样用啦!!!

PRC Lady:先生…谢谢你…

我(unspoken):快回家去吧! Can’t even understand english..what they are allowed to reside in singapore? Contribute economically? I don’t think so…Judging from the card she’s holding…she got PR status… KNN!

Enough said, everywhere I go now..I never fail to hear  some foreign slangs….ten yrs ago…I can’t even remember… Yes, our policies are very pro foreigners to come and become residents in our country…but how many will stay for long? I have already seen the PRC colleague using SG as a spring board for her to get EU citzenship, another PRC from Suzhou to nice Toronto, Canada and then a nice Philippines couple to montreal…

To me, singapore to them is just a stepping board to springboard to other place… F1 policies indeed..

Where the sun rises….

Posted by diligo on September 14, 2007

Thanks to my dear Ginger….We both got invited to see the style magazine feature artists, Grace Phan and her documentary film “Where the Sun Rises”. She spoke rather beautiful english and we really appreciate the candid way that she does sharing of her experience shooting the film about forgiveness and reconciliation, how she came up with the idea of doing the film, her personal encounter with East Timor’s Presidente, Xanana Gusmao. Some thing, interesting that amongst the other good stuff that she shared, is that one man can make a difference.. and the 3rd way…to let go of hatred and forgive is the only way to move forward. I can’t say much but I am over awe by the sheer beauty of the East Timor, the mountains and the seas….spectacular! I am going to watch this film for sure when it screens at the picture house…

I do hope that one day theIsraeli-Palestinian conflict

will be able to end…forgiveness is the way to go.. As I would like to say, an eye for an eye..and all the world goes blind….a vicious cycle…

WHERE THE SUN RISES 希望的黎明

synopsisXanana Gusmao, the President of East Timor, takes us on a breathtaking and intimate journey. Revelations from the 24-year Resistance against Indonesian occupation, to the present-day challenges of the world’s youngest nation. The struggle against foreign occupation has ended, but the fight to build a new nation from ashes, and against poverty, incompetence, corruption and hatred is just beginning. This is a story about the courageous journey from war and sacrifice to forgiveness and reconciliation – a powerful and universal theme which transcends all geographical, cultural and ethnic boundaries. It is humanity’s struggle.

Nephew, the GPS was invented with persons like you in mind!

Posted by diligo on September 12, 2007

The reason why GPS is invented….Yup, for imbecile like the nephew. Today, yet another classic from the nephew. 1st of all, when I asked him to be the escort for the aussie( send him bk to hotel and take him to esplande for dinner). He said he needed GPS!!!!! Our office is right smacked within orchard road! Goodness gracious!

S, while I was over at Suntec, Midori

to collect a magazine from Roland’s staff.. I got two calls on how to get to the restaurant. Simple instruction, go to the water front…and walk toward the right of esplande. Cos he told me that he is at the information counter…strangely, he did not ask the information counter…..And then guess what…according to the Aussie…they went around in circles..till they reach marina square….

Singapore is so small and not to mention our esplande, our national icon…this is such a disgrace….

From the Cradle to The Grave…

The final lap has started…a step that one must go thru…

Memories that I seems to have forgotten..will come flooding back some time along the timeline…

I’m A Small Frog…And there’s only so much a small frog can do

Posted by diligo on September 4, 2007

In this trying moments of my life…I feel so smallish of the things that I could do..

Ugly Lesson #1: Money maketh the world go round
Ugly Lesson #2: Better be more self reliant when you are old.
Ugly Lesson #3: Talk is Cheap.
Ugly Lesson #4: Old folks Home can be a dumping ground for responsibilities

Okay, listen to Corrinne May’s “Beautiful Seed”… It does bring comfort with the following few lines :
Dreams are what we make them to be
There is hope in every heartbeat, Tiny as it seems, You are a beautiful seed
